Ripcord Solutions was originally founded in 2005 by Phil Lambert. Having previously led two Fortune 500 Business Continuity programs, he wanted to utilize his experience to coach others to success. Thus, the “Center for Continuity Leadership” was born. The company focused on sharing effective leadership skills, practical solutions, and entrepreneur-like strategies to give executives the tools needed to build their own resiliency programs.
In our first year, “The Center” sought to fulfill this mission by conducting two-day “Continuity Leadership Conferences.” Over time, we found that each and every attendee always seemed to have the same problem, regardless of the size of their organization: it was impossible to convince people in the business units to do any of the planning activities. During a group forum, one conference attendee revealed the secret to their successful program. They were using web-based training to gain favorable exposure, a greater level of buy-in from senior leadership, and a noticeable increase in participation from the business units. The teacher suddenly became the student.
. . . “Over time, we found that each and every attendee always seemed to have the same problem, regardless of the size of their organization: it was impossible to convince people in the business units to do any of the planning activities.”
At a time when the eLearning industry was still immature, we swiftly adopted this silver bullet approach to resiliency planning and, over the next two years, began to deliver and specialize in customized, web-based training for our client’s Crisis Management, Disaster Recovery, and Business Continuity programs. To this day, the focus on fast and effective training remains a central part of the Ripcord approach.
Things got a little more interesting in 2010. One of our clients asked Phil to not only provide the training for an upcoming Business Impact Analysis, but to actually perform the BIA as a consultant. And, in that moment, Ripcord Solutions was conceived.
With a new name and novel approach to resiliency consulting and advisory services, it only made sense to invite Philip Bigge to lead Ripcord’s growing services team. After all, he was our first eLearning customer way back in 2006.
Today Ripcord Solutions provides Crisis Management, Disaster Recovery, and Business Continuity advisory services to large companies. Our experienced consultants work on projects ranging from current state assessments, Business and Technology Impact Analyses, and table-top exercises to the establishment of governance, regulatory compliance, and maturity matrices. We continue to utilize web-based training as a method to quickly build program awareness, disseminate program methodology, and build the muscle memory necessary for an effective response.
